Which is the best antivirus? HELP!!?

I have the following antivirus setup with me

1. AVG75free_519a1276 (AVG 7.5) = 34.2 MB size

2. bitdefender_antivirus_2008_32b (bitdefender antivirus 2008) = 34.1 MB size

3. kav7.0.1.325en (kapersky 7.1) = 29.6 MB size

Which of these are trial versions ? Is the bitdefender full version ? Which among these 3 is the best ?

When i try to instal bitdefender, it checks for new version and asks me whether to download the new version .. I heard bitdefender is the best in 2008 survey, is it true ?

AM using Windows vista, so have already a windows firewall, i just need a basic virus scanner that can find virus in pen drives and other removable media.

For the record..... you see the top antivirus prize the VB100Award. Symantec Norton (USA) has been number one for years until a few ago when Kaspersky (Russia) now enjoys those honors UNTIL now - Trend Micro has taken the title over them and NOD32 and AVG and all the rest.

Is XP antivirus a scam?

I was at a website and all of the sudden, what looked like a legitimate Windows message box popped up that said ''If your computer is infected, you could suffer data loss, erratic PC behaviour, PC freezes and crahes. Detect and remove viruses before they damage your computer.'' (behavior and crashes were misspelled in the message box) It goes on to say that XP antivirus will check my computer for free, when I hit cancel it took me to a page with another (cheesey looking) message box and is asking me to download the file. I'm sure I shouldn't download, but even when I click the ignore button I get 'do you want to run or save this file', I hit cancel and am taken back to the cheesey looking message box. Do I have a virus? Am I at risk? How do I close that page?

I found this on a website:

XPAntiVirus is a rogue antivirus software that, when runs, display false results as a tactic to scare you into purchasing the software. When XPAntivirus is first installed it will create 9 entries in your Windows Registry that impersonate infections on your machine. In reality, though, these registry entries are harmless and have absolutely no effect on your computer. Instead, these entries are set so that XP AntiVirus can find them when scanning your computer and report them as infections. In order to remove these fake infections you need to purchase the software as the trial does not allow you to remove them.

This is an easy one, Click on the windows icon on the bottom left, go to control panel on the lower right, go to uninstall a program and select norton it is going to ask you if you are sure a bunch of times and have you restart it too. Your computer should work after this but I recomend gettting a new antivirus soon.

Go to the control panel and then add/remove programs and remove the ''antivirus 2008'' I dunno y u would unistall norton, it works just fine on mine. This just showed up on my computer today after it did the automatic updates. Does anyone know if Spybot Search and Destroy will get rid of it? I was reading on it and it said that the only way you can remove it is to download a removal tool from this program.
I think its a come-with. Try going into settings and tuning it down. You also might want Norton Antivirus and it can override. I think
you can try to remove it manually using this removal instructions:

How do you get rid of internet explorer?

Somehow some advertisements have gotten onto my computer. I use Firefox, but someone who'd used IE got onto a page that downloaded some ads. I have checked the computer for spyware, bots, and viruses, and all my programs say the computer is clean, yet these things still keep coming up in IE windows. I want to completely disable IE so that this can't continue to happen. Here are the steps I've taken (but they're not enough because IE windows keep coming up).

1-Used Ad-Aware to deep clean my computer for ads and other spyware.

    2. Used Spybot S%26D to get rid of bots.

    3.Went to control panel%26gt;add/remove programs%26gt;windows components%26gt;and from there I disabled Internet Explorer.

4.Used two different antivirus programs to sweep my computer for viruses.

Even after disabling IE, I STILL have these annoying pop-up windows advertising things in an IE browser. What's more is I can surf the net from those pages, in IE! So...what do I do to solve this problem? I use Windows XP if that helps.

Which antivirus is suitable for pc and can be easily freely downloaded?aurora

Google spyware remover is the best. Download it free of cost from www.aspireinfo.org
    GO FOR MAC-fee Gr8 software
go to www.scanwith.com and a McAfee u'll probably get an older version but its ok..........go to www.zcrack.com crack for older version is easily available........then u can always update by registring it.......
Avast Antivirus can easily be downloaded. You need to register into it to get the installation key. It actually found and deleted copy.exe, temp2.exe virus which Nortan could not delete.

    This antivirus rocks.
I don't think there is a free prgrams these days. but the best solution is to download windows difender from www.microsoft.com, and you can download it only if your windows xp is original and not a copy. otherwise try to search for symantic antivirus corporate eddition, i think it's free
AVG Free. Or try www.crazy-coders.net or http://computerstuff-shop.co.uk/ for ''other free'' (WINK WINK) solutions...Just better get WINRAR before you try to go to those sites and get the (Free) Antivirus programs.
Use Antivir personal edition classic . It works like magic and it is free.
THe combo of Norton and the Lavasofts Ad-aware is easily the best and the most lethal against most of the virus. As no single antivirus can provide u protection against all the virus thus the one which can gives u maximum is the best and Norton inevitably is that one. It has proven track record, uncanny ability to revert back to its original settings if being attacked by the worms , trojans and virus. Largest database of information related to the virus (signature files and all that).

If I download Limewire what free virus and spyware programs should I use on my laptop?

I have a free trial of Norton Antivirus right now for a couple of months. Has anyone had problems with Limewire?

If I download Limewire what free virus and spyware programs should I use on my laptop?anti virus

    Before you use limewire!!

    Is LimeWire Dangerous?

If you enjoy file sharing programs, LimeWire isn't a bad idea. If, however, you don't want other individuals to have access to your files, LimeWire is a truly bad idea. Not only will it slow your personal computer down, it will also destroy any meaningful internet experience that you want to have because your bandwidth will constantly be in demand by other LimeWire users downloading the files that you have posted. Some users have reported having the bulk of their allowable bandwidth consumed all day everyday by other LimeWire users.

    LimeWire As a Security Risk

Using LimeWire and allowing others to connect to your computer presents a security risk to you. In order to use a filesharing network like LimeWire, you have to disable many of your defenses that protect you from other users. While others are not supposed to be able to see the information you don't post directly, crafty users will have no trouble accessing any material they want on your machine. From personal files to password and credit card information, it's all very available once you become a part of LimeWire. Whether you have a firewall on your computer or not, your security is at risk with a service like LimeWire. Indeed, one of the features LimeWire advertises on their own site is how easy it is to get through the firewalls of other users. More than any other filesharing program, though, LimeWire is particularly dangerous, as there are several security flaws within the network. You don't have to be a hacker to grab someone's financial data from the service, and with the rates of identity theft on the rise, it's best to protect yourself at all costs.
