If your getting the Windows Genuine Advantage nag screen, then you are running an illegal version of Windows. You need to purchase it.

As for your AVG license number, look for it in the AVG program.

open the AVG Control Center, click 'Information', then click 'About AVG' this is where your AVG license number is (under the 'version' tab.

and Windows genuine advantage should not be slowing down your computer but...I did have a case about a week ago where a client was running Norton and kept getting the "Windows is not genuine" warning...I uninstalled Norton - put AVG on and the warning went away...is it magic? I don't think so.
