2. bitdefender_antivirus_2008_32b (bitdefender antivirus 2008) = 34.1 MB size

3. kav7.0.1.325en (kapersky 7.1) = 29.6 MB size

Which of these are trial versions ? Is the bitdefender full version ? Which among these 3 is the best ?

When i try to instal bitdefender, it checks for new version and asks me whether to download the new version .. I heard bitdefender is the best in 2008 survey, is it true ?

I was at a website and all of the sudden, what looked like a legitimate Windows message box popped up that said ''If your computer is infected, you could suffer data loss, erratic PC behaviour, PC freezes and crahes. Detect and remove viruses before they damage your computer.'' (behavior and crashes were misspelled in the message box) It goes on to say that XP antivirus will check my computer for free, when I hit cancel it took me to a page with another (cheesey looking) message box and is asking me to download the file. I'm sure I shouldn't download, but even when I click the ignore button I get 'do you want to run or save this file', I hit cancel and am taken back to the cheesey looking message box. Do I have a virus? Am I at risk? How do I close that page?

I was trying to download a video when all the sudden some anstivirus thing poped up and I tried to ignore it and not download the video anymore but it was too late now I cant do anything on the net unless i buy what is ''Antivirus 2008'' and so my sister used her credit card to buy but still cant get it to stop popping up and I cant go on the internet. I contacted my broadband provider and they said I must ''uninstall'' what is known to be ''Norton''. I dont know how and I dont know what to do! I jus bought this computer BRAND NEW a week ago! This is an easy one, Click on the windows icon on the bottom left, go to control panel on the lower right, go to uninstall a program and select norton it is going to ask you if you are sure a bunch of times and have you restart it too. Your computer should work after this but I recomend gettting a new antivirus soon.

Somehow some advertisements have gotten onto my computer. I use Firefox, but someone who'd used IE got onto a page that downloaded some ads. I have checked the computer for spyware, bots, and viruses, and all my programs say the computer is clean, yet these things still keep coming up in IE windows. I want to completely disable IE so that this can't continue to happen. Here are the steps I've taken (but they're not enough because IE windows keep coming up).

1-Used Ad-Aware to deep clean my computer for ads and other spyware.

2. Used Spybot S%26D to get rid of bots.

3.Went to control panel%26gt;add/remove programs%26gt;windows components%26gt;and from there I disabled Internet Explorer.

4.Used two different antivirus programs to sweep my computer for viruses.

Even after disabling IE, I STILL have these annoying pop-up windows advertising things in an IE browser. What's more is I can surf the net from those pages, in IE! So...what do I do to solve this problem? I use Windows XP if that helps.

I would not go near entering any personal information on a windows ME machine. #1 support for many if not all ME products are discontinued by the respective manufacturers. I assume you have tried different virus scanners.

Once you have a clean build, make a note of all the start up items (save a log file from HijackThis -free download-just google it), then again after the infection has set in. This will also list the running processes. (maybe some clues there??)

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. You should only have 1 anti virus, so you need to unisntall Madesafe. The best way to uninstall a program and make space on your hard drive is to use Ccleaner. So download and install that.

It's because somehow your home page was set for yahoo web search page. To get it of it next time after you open the browser (IE) go to Tools, Internet Option. On the General tab you can set your home page to Blank page or any web site you like and click OK.

Zonealamr is good, norton sux. ESET is highly reccomended to look into. For Free, drop oneare uninstalling it today. I have no virus protection and I am doing fine. If you have no precious data hackers wont bother you. Go with something cheap if you have nothing important on your computer.

It will also scan and find the viruses in your computer, only it finds the hardcore viruses, such as Trojin Horse viruses, or just Trojon viruses. This program will also find the smaller, but still effective viruses, that are in your computer.

These programs are to be put into the computer, but not installed. They are actually used to ''trick'' the computer into thinking that there is a computer game being put into the tower.
