I want WORDPAD. It is completely/definately deleted from my pc. Can't find the download anywher

Operating system is WIN98SE

Was told to go to http://download.openoffice.org but don't see anything to download? Maybe it's me, but it just looks like a community help/talk site? And will programs asking for WORDPAD work with the openoffice thing?

I need a CRTDLL ( to to get antivirus downloaded ) and can't open the CRTDLL download without WORDPAD.exe

Please answer asap as I think I have a virus to get rid of.

OpenOffice is a freeware replacement for wordpad, but it offers a lot more than word processing.

If you search for a good wordpad replacement, I recommend AbiWord.

double click on add/remove progams

click on Windows setup

go to accessories and put a check in wordpad.

it is a virus...you cannot use ur antivirus to make the virus get away from ur pc. one more thing,have u ever click on that 'notepad' file? If not u're safe,but if yes u ve been infected with that virus.and ur pc will open win32 folder auto. here,u have 2 choices :

1. format ur pc and lost all ur data

2. email me,i will give a good software that can make that brontok go away.

Ok, I bought this laptop a couple months ago and it came with a free trial to Norton Antivirus......

I just upgraded to the full version today. Before I upgraded, I would get the little message block telling me that I have a new email and it would tell me who it came from and what the subject was......but since I've downloaded the full version, that has stopped. Now all I get is the sound notification that I have a new email. How do I change this back so that I know what email I just got and whom it comes from?

I got norton 360 and it has a help and support section. I think if you set it to scan emails you will get the message.

I have read a lot of pages about these kids like 14-18 making virus's and distrubuting them to there school's server. My son's school uses PowerSchool and PowerGrade to manage the attendence and grades but they run on the same server as the students accounts do, so are they that stupid that they may be puting there grades, social security numbers, telephone numbers, and all the other stuff the school stores on the server? It just doesnt make any sense. I guess thats why i have to download my antivirus updates each night and morning...

You know, I don't mean to sound offensive - but what kind of question is that. Of course it's wrong to send a virus - anywhere, it's mean, destructive and vindictive. People are being fined big money and even young people are being arrested for such behavior. The fact that you even question this is a little unsettling. (unless you're unsure of what your asking)

You might let the school know what you've read about so they can beef up their security. Many times, the school server can stop a lot of information that is illegally being sent to the school and can detect 'virus' activity.... so it's stopped at the mainframe (before it hits the student's computers). If you're concerned, you should check with the school IT person.

They are stored on the server so that any faculty member with access to the file can read it. Viruses are annoying and it is really NOT right that people make them...it's just making lots of money for the security companies (which I'm sure they have a hand in it too, or else they would not make any money).

what ever it is it follows my every move when comes to downloading any antivirus keylogging or antispy ware.my ethernet and dsl lights flash when i do these things.it will not let me activate windows or download anything from microsoft.whatever it is when i download any software it attaches itself to it so nothing touches it.i have reinstalled my xp several times but that does not get rid of it as it seems to have attached itself to a file but i can not find the right file even looking in the registry.i have tried every way to eliminate it but no dice someone out there must have the same problem.

when you reinstall windows, do you do it from a master backup. I used to do that but i found that it does not get rid of your ''my documents'' and just reinstalls xp over the top. The only way i managed to sort mine was to completely format the hard drive and reinstall xp from an original xp install disk. I then just started again. I did however go through all my docs and take all the pictures that i know are good and not corrupted and save them to cd to copy back onto my pc once windows was reinstalled.

i love AVG antivirus. it works good. But i heard that Avast works even better. So i just downloaded Avast. so now i have both avg and avast. is that bad for my computer? will it crash or cause damage?

avast is better though, its always on the job.

while avg just ''sits'' there so to speak. while virus tear your pc down. Avast has better reviews then avg.

good side on avg, is that its always updating itsself for you.

but you should uninstall avg and keep avast..

id suggest removing one of them they will eventually conflict with each other and you will end up having to delete them first,all any pc needs is avg,adaware,spybot and a good firewall and you will never have any problems,all these you can get for free at www.download.com i use limewire ant utorrent all the time and never have any issues.
It is likely that at some point there will be a conflict, and in the mean time, running both will cause serious slowdowns for your computer. Both are good, avast has slightly better detection ratings, but its close enough that your personal preference is most important to which one you keep.
