So we just got wireless internet in my house tonight. I was on my computer and I downloaded an antivirus system because my old one had expired. It required an automatic restart, but now my computer won't stop restarting. Any ideas?
Oh, and Dell won't help because my warranty expired.

See if you can boot to safe mode (hit F8 before the windows XP splash screen and use the arrows and the enter ket to select) if you can boot to safe mode then it might be worth sheduelling a disk check or maybe removing the new anti virus.
I doubt that Dell would help even if there was any warranty left as they dont provide much support with software problems, only hardware.

Do as maverick said and try to boot into safe mode. I think there is a conflict between the antivirus program you have and another program that is causing the endless reboots
Sad thing. Well, I believe that you have to switch off your computer manually yourself. Besides, the Manually Switch Off Computer method is different in different in every computer. If you are using desktops(those that have the CPU, Screen, Keyboard and Mouse), turn off the main switch that your desktop is connecting to( please turn off CPU plug-in) and turn it on again after a few minutes. If you are using Notebooks(in other words, laptops), there is two ways. If your Notebook is getting it's power from the main switch, it is the same way like the desktops. If it is not wired, then I think that you have to press the on button and hold it. If you are using tablet PC, same applies. Anyway, I hope this idea works! Because it is my best answer! Have A Nice Day!
